Annie, Director of Ancient Moon from Boone, NC
Annie first began to bellydance in 2001 when she took a workshop in Wilmington, North Carolina. Having no local teachers in her hometown, she continued to learn from video until 2004 when Maya Christina began to teach in her area. From there she has studied with several other teachers and is currently a student of Maysameh of Rhythmic Essence.
Annie began her American Tribal Style (ATS) education at a workshop with Jenny Helms in 2007. Since then she has traveled to Milwaukee, Wisconsin twice to be taught by Carolena Nericcio, the founder of ATS. Annie began teaching ATS in the fall of 2008 and is now a certified teacher under Carolena. In addition, she pursued and gained a "Sister Studio" status with Carolena's troupe FatChanceBellydance.
Believing that there is always more to learn in this wonderful art form, Annie continues to attend regular workshops both in and out of her local area. Recently she expanded her teaching to include many new classes at Ancient Moon's studio, which opened in April of this year. But when it comes to the wide world of bellydance, her own words say it best. "ATS is where my heart is."
